The Bureau of Primary Health Care (BPHC) ensures that underserved and vulnerable people get the health care they need. BPHC is one of four Bureaus of the Health Resources and Services Administration, an agency in the Department of Health and Human Services. As a federally qualified health center, Swope Health Services receives funding from the Bureau of Primary Health Care for primary care services.
COMBAT is Jackson County, Missouri's Community Backed Anti-Drug Tax, which provides funding for substance abuse programs at Swope Health Services. For more information, please call Michael Davis at 816-929-2600.
Healthy People 2010 is a set of health objectives for the U.S. to achieve over the first decade of the 21st century. Its two over-arching goals, which Swope Health Services is committed to, are to:
- Increase quality and years of healthy life.
- Eliminate health disparities among different segments of the population.
The Joint Commission is the organization which accredits health care and behavioral health systems. We have received the JCAHO Gold Seal of Approval in recognition of the quality of our medical and behavioral health care.

This 1999 report and its 2001 supplement discuss the importance of mental health care to overall health, the importance of treatment of mental health conditions, and variations in mental health and available care for different ethnic groups in the United States.
